Ada's Mother is really mean and abusive and her brother is nice and her cares about Jamie and doesn't care about Ada, she has a broken foot that she was born with and she's try to walk and keep it a secret. she can't go outside because her mother is really ashamed of her foot and she's been inside all her life and the only entertainment she has is looking out the window.

I found out that Ada and her brother Jamie escape from their horrible mother and the war and they by getting on a train to go to knew family's but I hated when they got picked last they are really nice but I guess the grown ups had to be so picky and I thought miss smith was going to be a nice person and she was. when the the metal faced lady said their's a nice woman that is single I thought it was their old mam looking for them.

What I thought was why didn't Ada let them help her see whats wrong with her clubed foot or maybe that she wasn't being used to being touched or maybe she thought the doctor was going to heart her. Another thought that I wondered about is why did Jamie smashed a plate against the wall and yell for another type of food because the were eating dinner.
5-9-10
The last thought I'm going to do is why is Ada being mean now she has always be nice and now she's mean and I don't get why Jamie is so spoiled and Mrs. Smith is trying so hard to be nice but Ada and Jamie thinks she's mean and I think she's nice. I'm glad Ada made two new friends because she was so lonely. she has never seen the sea? or other kinds of body's of water?
